Subject: Automatically Running WEAP for multiple scenarios Posted: 1/30/2017 Viewed: 14328 times
Hi!
I want to run WEAP to investigate the impact of different climate and socio-economic (e.g, different irrigation size, population etc)scenarios.
This obviously needs multiple climate data and model parameters representing the different scenarios. Is there an automatic way (may be script?) of data input and saving outputs for each scenario?
Thanks a lot!

Dear Feyera,
How many scenarios do you plan to do? For me, when I do climate scenarios, it is not so many, so I usually have all the data in Excel and link to Excel. It's even easier if you have one spreadsheet with multiple columns, and then you can copy and paste the Excel "link" (generated by the ReadfromFile Wizard) and simply change the column number for the different scenarios. I don't know of any examples of scripting that process.
For the data outputs, do you mean that you want to run different combinations of scenarios? That can involve scripting, but if you're only running one or a few combinations, it's likely easier to set up the results you want to contrast the different scenarios and export them all from them.

Dear Stephanie,
Thank you for your reply! I meant saving the results of each scenario. I have combinations of scenarios: multiple climate data, several possible irrigation options (with crop types and sizes), and different assumptions of population growth. With those combinations, I may end up running them for about 100 times.
As you suggested manually setting up Excel is an option. But I was wondering if there is a faster way of getting it done.
Thank you again for your suggestion!
