You are invited to the next session of the Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus webinar series hosted by FAO in collaboration with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI).

Session 3: Sustainable Electricity Production by Integrated Food, Energy and Water Systems: Opportunities and Challenges

Innovations such as agrivoltaics have opened new prospects to improve quality of life while increasing resilience of the agricultural sector against climate change. The integrated triple land use system allows for production of food, electricity and water without exploiting natural aquifers and new land. Agrivoltaics is rapidly gaining popularity, but not yet in African countries. The webinar seeks to explore this innovation by presenting opportunities and challenges for such systems in Africa. Furthermore, it provides insight into the role of photovoltaics in community farming in Gambia and describes the models behind existing projects and investment strategies/behaviors within a local framework.

Date and Time: Tuesday, Nov 16, 2021, 13:30 GMT +1 (Rome)

The webinar will be hosted on Zoom and is open to all. Registration is required: https://fao.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_xVhrXOpNQcOxew8AiI6P6g
