Subject: Interesting Reservoir Operations Problem Posted: 12/8/2016 Viewed: 12890 times
Hello WEAP Community,
This is my first time posting here, though I've been using WEAP for a few years now. I've run in to an interesting issue with reservoir operations changing completely based on the inclusion of a demand node or not.
We've modeled a relatively intricate system of reservoirs and transfers that eventually converge at three primary points to convey water to demands downstream, with one primary river carrying the bulk. There are several associated demand nodes pulling from this river (6 in the system total). At this time, the reservoirs deplete completely differently based on whether or not I add a 7th "dummy" demand node *that is not connected to the system in any way*. The node I add has 0 demand and no links to the surrounding system. When I add this node, the reservoirs deplete and behave more as expected. Without it, however, the reservoirs do not empty as expected, and many of the canals go underutilized.
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this before, and if so, is there anything else I might be missing? It seems to me like a bug, but I want to be sure I'm thorough about this...
