Hey Everyone, I'm using WEAP to create a scenario about the evolution of cost of pumping from groundwater in a river basin in Morocco. Anyone can help ? Anyone could please explain to me what are the steps to follow in WEAP and the needed data ?
Thank you so much, Imane.

Dear Imane,
I advise you to go through the Financial Analysis module of the WEAP tutorial. I imagine you would want to put the cost information into your model as variable operating cost per unit of water withdrawn from your groundwater node.

Thank you so much dear Stephanie. I'll take a closer look at that :)

Hello Stephanie,
I updated the WEAP model but suddenly, I can not find the et cost tab in financial module in WEAP results. Any suggestions what could be the problem ?
Thank you very much :Imane

Yes - good eye! The concepts have not changed, but the language has. What was called "net costs" now is called "net benefits", which has to do with economic definitions.

Dear Stephanie,
I would like to test the effect of using solar energy on the evolution of the cost of pumping from groundwater. I created a key assumption in WEAP, what could be the modeling function I should use to make the price diminish when I have the solar energy equipment installed in the basin ?
Thank you : Imane.

Hi Imane,
In the groundwater section, under cost, there is a area to write in the variable costs. In that window, I would use the expression builder to say something like
unit cost of conventional electricity per unit of electricity *(electricity units necessary - solar electricity available).
[I am assuming that your solar electricity availability is your key assumption that you created].
Keep in mind that the default units are US dollars, so you will either have to change that or do unit a conversion.

Hi Stephanie,
Thank you very much. I will try this modeling function in the model and see what happens.

Hi Stephanie,
I need your help in something else. would you help me please ?
I want to create a scenario about the reconvention to lolalized irrigation and its impact on increased irrigation efficiency. I have now data for my current account showing the % of area by type of irrigation and by irrigated perimeters.
Could you please advice on the method ?
Thank you very much.

Hi Imane,
Does your model use demand sites or catchments for irrigated agriculture?
Also I'm not sure what you mean by reconvention to localized irrigation, can you explain that?

Hello Stephanie,
Thank you very much for your answer. My model is using catchment for irrigated agriculture.
Oops Im sorry "Bad typing". I meant reconversion to drip irrigation. My irrigated catchments are using now the three types of irrigation (sprinkler, drip and gravity irrigation) and I want to see the effect of using 100 % drip irrigation on increasing irrigation efficiency.
Imane.
