Subject: 1. WEAP and GIS; 2. default priority in WEAP water allocation Posted: 2/28/2015 Viewed: 20445 times
Hello
I have two questions:
1. I am trying to add the vector shape files that I have for my area, and can't see the river shape file on the WEAP map. I tried to move the shape file to top/ to bottom...no success on seeing it - would appreciate the help
2. I was wondering which algorithm (simplex, forward-method...) WEAP uses in order to assign the water allocation demand. Assuming I ask WEAP to have first priority to all the demand sites, why it would chose to give certain amount of water to user i and not to user j...I would appreciate more info about the "behind the scene" of WEAP
Thanks
Manar

1. Perhaps the shape file you added has a different projection from the standard WEAP shape files (WGS84)? All shape files in WEAP must use the same projection. Either change the projection of your shape files, or remove the standard WEAP layers (Countries, Rivers), then go to Set Area Boundaries to define the boundaries using the new projection.
2. Please see the help topic "Priorities for water allocation" in the WEAP Help and User Guide.
Or for a complete description of the water allocation algorithm that WEAP uses, see our paper "WEAP21--A Demand-, Priority-, and Preference-Driven Water Planning Model: Part 1, Model Characteristics," Water International, 30 (2005): http://www.weap21.org/downloads/WEAPDSS.pdf
