hi,im a irrigation engineer ,i graduated from damascus university in 2009, right now i m doing a research about using IT in hydraulic issues ,and i need
choose a specific topic as subject of my research and i,ve not used WEAP until now and i wonder how can weap model the river (varied section of river ,soil type of river ,quality of water ,facilities constructed on the river and its specifications such as dam and its lake ,sedimentation ).
i also want to know if weap can model the flow in river in different cases (calculate a flood wave ,effects of high rainfalls on flow in river....)

if i got a help i will very grateful from you .

Dear Deia,

WEAP does not currently have an algorithm for modeling the hydraulics of a river. It was designed to study the allocation of water in water resources planning studies which typically use a timestep of a week or month. As such, it relies on a straightforward mass balance approach and does not model the kinematics of flow.

WEAP can represent many types of structures including reservoirs, hydropower plants, diversions, and canals.
