A very good question. The well data are valuable I have worked in Modflow and ArcGis but never in WEAP, although it should be noted that the three (MODFLOW, ArcGIS and WEAP) use a DEM. Hopefully, experts say.

Hi Elham:

In reviewing class notes I find the link to MODFLOW is only possible under the 2000 version provided MODFLOW not have a very complex model. The secret of the issue focuses on the organization of the data that will eventually allow the WEAP model set: problems of infiltration, pumping, absorption and groundwater flow.

The construction and calibration of a MODFLOW model is not a simple

As Alberto mentioned, the version of MODFLOW that WEAP can link to is MODFLOW 2000. For a detailed description of the MODFLOW "packages" that WEAP can handle, see http://www.weap21.org/WebHelp/index.html#Linking_to_MODFLOW_Details.htm

In order to link a MODFLOW model to a WEAP model, you will first need to prepare and calibrate a MODFLOW model outside of WEAP. Because MODFLOW is so detailed, preparation of an initial MODFLOW model will entail significant effort. There are various software packages, both free and commercial, that can help you create a MODFLOW model:

MODFLOW-GUI (USGS): http://water.usgs.gov/nrp/gwsoftware/mfgui4/modflow-gui.html

Processing Modflow: http://www.pmwin.net

Groundwater Modeling System (GMS): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMS_(software)

Visual MODFLOW: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_MODFLOW

Good luck!
